Last year a team of three Coombe Dean Post 16 students completed the Engineering Education Scheme project, designing and modelling a floating wind turbine platform. Their work included all the research necesary to build a full scale version of their design.
As a result of their efforts, they also qualified for the Gold Level CREST Award. The CREST Awards Scheme is the British Science Association’s flagship programme for young people, with around 40’000 students in the UK gaining CREST Awards every year. It is the only nationally recognised accreditation scheme for STEM project work subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
